  • An Annual Candlelight Vigil will take place at 6 pm, Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Coastal Center for Hope and Healing (2403 Trent Road). Together, we gather to remember and honor those who have lost their lives to domestic violence, and to celebrate the courage and resilience of survivors.   • A Vision for the Planet, a multimedia, music and visual experience by composer, Jim Scott, will take place at 4 pm, Saturday, November 8, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (308 Meadows Street, New Bern). Suggested donation is $10. Visit jimscottmusic.com for more information.

  • A Place of Belonging documentary film screening will take place at 6 pm, Thursday, November 6 at the Orringer Auditorium (Craven Community College).   • Hammer it Home... On the Range western-themed fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity will take place from 6 - 9 pm, Friday, November 7, at the Pavilion at Carolina Colours Golf Course. The event will feature a "Chair'ity" live auction featuring chairs painted by local artists, as well as a Reverse Drawing with a $5,000 grand prize.   • Join the Rothermel Foundation on Sunday October 26th, as Mark Gerson discusses his latest book, “God Was Right: How Modern Social Science Proves the Torah is True.” In this book, author and entrepreneur Mark Gerson will discuss the Torah's perspectives and directives on topics of relevance to our age, as well as the social scientific validation of the Torah claims. The lecture is at 2 pm, October 26, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church (400 New Street, New Bern). Rothermel Foundation presentations are free to the public and last approximately 1 hour followed by a short question-and-answer session with the presenter.   • Craven County Master Gardener Volunteer Association 2025 Bulb Sale will take place from October 1 - November 15. For more information and to order online, go to https://www.cravenmastergardener.org/

  • Sunday Brunch and a Gospel Song for You fundraiser for Tried by Fire, Inc.'s My Sister's House featuring Bonita Burney Simmons.   • Jones County - A Perfect 10 - A fundraiser for the Filling Station will take place from 11 am - 2 pm, Saturday, November 8, at 221 Main Street in Pollocksville. Activities include BBQ lunch, cloggers and music, bake sale, drop-in painting, tractor photo booth, country games, and educational opportunities.   • Caregiver Support Group for End-of-Life Loved Ones - 10:30 am on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month at the River Bend Municipal Building (51 Shoreline Drive).
