EVENTS​​​​​​​​

• First Presbyterian Creation Care Team (400 New Street) is holding an Organic Lawn and Garden Care Workshop at 2 pm, Sunday, October 25. The workshop's speaker will be Zack McCall, owner of TrimLawn Organics and is open to all in the community who want to practice better earth care in their own backyard.  

• New Bern Pride is hosting a Halloween Party from 8 pm - midnight on Saturday, October 31. The 18+ event will take place at the Omega Center (800 Cedar Street), and tickets are $10. Everyone is welcome. 

• New Temple Baptist Church presents the My Hope is Jesus Tour - Big Daddy Weave at 7 pm, Saturday, November 7. Ticket prices range from $30 - $60. Call 800-965-9324 for ticket information. 

• St. Mary’s in Kinston will be celebrating All Saints Sunday by hosting the Ciompi String Quartet of Duke University at 4pm. The concert is free and will be an all -American concert featuring works by Barber, Ives, Florence Price and others. A reception will follow in Mosley Hall.

• Run or Walk in the 13th Annual Colors 4 Cancer 5 K on Saturday, November 7, at Creekside Elementary School. Proceeds benefit the Journey of Hope Cancer Support Fund. A one-mile fun fun is also available. Sign up here. 

• The Craven County Master Gardener Volunteer Association is offering their 2026 Bulb Sale from October 1 - November 15, 2026. Click here for more information. 

• The New Bern Yarn Bomb Project has returned to our downtown bears with scarves and cowls remaining in place through November 4. The fall installation has a civic participation focus, with placards including two informational QR Codes.

• Craven County Fair Housing Resources - Craven County has adopted a Fair Housing Policy which recognizes that public notification is vital towards eliminating discriminatory housing practices. In an effort to keep the community informed, the County has published a Housing Resource Manual.

• New Bern Community Respite Care - Thursdays from 10 am - 2 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church (2311 Elizabeth Ave). Contact person is Lindsay Roberts (lindsayroberts@newbernrespite.org / 919.428.0618)​​​. 

• Seniors Embrace Technology - Digital Navigators can help you sign up for low-cost internet, assist with purchasing a laptop, troubleshoot basic technology issues, and locate an in-person or online digital skills class. Call 252.671.7553 and ask to speak to Cynthia Livingston.

• Caregiver Support Group for End-of-Life Loved Ones - 10:30 am on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month at the River Bend Municipal Building (51 Shoreline Drive).

• Mental Wellness Services through Carolina Therapy Connection -- Offering diverse interventions to enhance emotional well-being for children, teenagers, adults, and families. Call 252.341.9944 for more information.

• Faith Connection’s Racial Reconciliation Project believes in addressing racism in a meaningful way that requires intentional focus in making connections with the diversity of our neighbors. We ask traditional “Black” churches to partner with traditional “White” churches to intentionally work together and build relationships. If you feel called to engage people of a different background than your own, please contact Steve Skiffington, Edna Marie Thomas or Mike Williams for more information. 

• Visit the Art House Art Studio and Creative Cafe, a cozy, welcoming place where people can slow down, spend time together, and connect through creativity and art. Located at 507 Pollock Street, Suite 4,  the Creative Cafe offers a menu of self-Guided art experiences, while the Art Studio offers adult classes, as well as classes, camps, and birthday parties for children.
